Creation of a solidarity collective with the Uyghur people at the French National Assembly

Good news for this last day of September 2020: today, at the initiative of the President of the European Uyghur Institute, Dilnur Reyhan, fifty-five French parliamentarians launched a parliamentary collective in solidarity with the Uyghur people.

In response to the seriousness of events unfolding in the Uyghur Region, and after years of governmental inaction in many European countries, these members of parliament say that they want to take responsibility for the abominable situation in which the Uyghur people find themselves. Denouncing the cowardice of democratic countries supposedly committed to the defence of human rights, they have decided to change this trend of renunciation and to take a first step towards a more humane world.

The Uyghur diaspora, and in particular the European Uyghur Institute, based in Paris, thank the members of the collective for their action and trust their sense of justice in carrying out this support initiative, while calling on other representatives to join them.
